He is active in his community and profession, where he has served on several local and national association boards, such as the District of Columbia Board of Nursing Home Administrators, LeadingAge, the District of Columbia Health Care Association and the National Association of Boards of Long Term Care, all in various leadership positions.
“My interest in long-term care (LTC ) has come from the roots of a family that has been involved in service to elders for years. I heard stories about how my great-grandmother would collect and deliver – through her grandchildren – ‘pennies from heaven’ to help Stoddard serve its residents. Several of my great-aunts served as nurses and in food services for years as Stoddard grew and transitioned. Finally, I was exposed to LTC when my mother suffered from the devastating disease, multiple sclerosis, from a very early age. In essence, this profession has been a substantial and sustained calling to which I have said ‘Yes!'”
